So, for this trip, I finally revisited the Eiffel Tower (the top that is), having skipped it many times due to long lines since my last time up in 1988! I took a “tour” this time, which avoided the main line, but you still had to wait in line for the elevators. Two going up and two coming down! That was fairly painful, but I did it!
Here I am standing near the base of the tower looking up. It was the tallest building in the world (1,083 feet) from its completion in 1889 until it was surpassed by the Chrysler building in NYC in 1930. Prior to its completion, the Washington Monument in DC was the tallest. Remember this stuff for trivia! :-)
